    Abstract
The Bima Brebes variety is known for its high yield potential, strong aroma, bright red bulb color, and relatively short harvest age, making it highly sought after by consumers and farmers. However, the productivity of red onion is greatly influenced by the factors of growing media, especially in home garden cultivation and sub-optimal lands. This study aims to identify the effects of different growing media compositions on the growth and yield production of Bima Brebes red onion variety. The research was conducted in Tetehosi Sorowi village, Lahewa Timur district, North Nias regency from March to June 2025. This study employed a non-factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 7 treatments and 4 replications, resulting in 28 experimental units. The treatment consists of subsoil: rice husk charcoal = 2:1, subsoil: chicken manure = 2:1, subsoil: rice husk charcoal = 3:1, subsoil: chicken manure = 3:1, subsoil: rice husk charcoal: chicken manure = 2:1:1, and subsoil: rice husk charcoal: chicken manure = 3:1:1. The results show that the composition of the growing media significantly affects the plant height in weeks 2, 3, and 5, as well as the dry weight of the tubers and the grading quality of tubers in classes I and II. The best treatment was obtained with the growing media composition of subsoil: rice husk charcoal: chicken manure = 2:1:1, resulting in the highest plant height (47,07 cm), the most tubers (9.75 pieces), the highest dry weight of tubers (34.88 grams), and the highest percentage of quality grading I (67.51%).
