    Abstract
The rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) enables devices to connect and exchange data in real-time. However, a major challenge in IoT systems lies in the limitations of communication bandwidth and storage capacity, especially for resource-constrained devices such as the ESP32 microcontroller. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Delta Encoding algorithm in reducing the size of transmitted data to the ThingsBoard IoT platform and optimizing storage in the PostgreSQL database. Environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, and air pressure were collected using DHT11 and BMP180 sensors, then processed under two scenarios: without compression (raw data) and with Delta Encoding compression. The experimental results show that Delta Encoding reduces the average payload size by 25.1% for single data transmission and 2.2% for array data transmission. Furthermore, Delta Encoding achieves storage savings of up to 74.96% for single data and 27.76% for array data in the database. These findings demonstrate that Delta Encoding can significantly improve data transmission and storage efficiency in IoT systems, particularly for scenarios with high-frequency data transmissions.
