| dc.description.abstract | Background: Pharmaceutical services in hospitals are required to implement Pharmaceutical Service Standards in accordance with Minister of Health Regulation (PMK) No. 72 of 2016. Pharmacists must realize the expansion of the service paradigm from product-oriented to patient-oriented. Therefore, students of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program (PSPPA) need to be equipped with the skills, expertise, and practical knowledge in managing pharmaceutical preparations and clinical pharmacy services through Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) in hospitals.
Objectives: This PKPA activity aims to: Improve prospective pharmacists' understanding of the role, function, position, and responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmaceutical services in hospitals. Equip prospective pharmacists with the insight, knowledge, skills, and practical experience in carrying out pharmaceutical work in accordance with PMK No. 72 of 2016. Prepare prospective pharmacists to enter the workforce as professional pharmacists in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Methods: The method used was the Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) conducted at the Special Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Haji General Hospital in Medan for 48 working days, from January 2 to February 28, 2025.
Results: The PKPA results indicate that the Pharmacy Unit at the Special Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Haji General Hospital in Medan (Class B General Hospital) has implemented comprehensive pharmaceutical services in accordance with PMK Standard No. 72 of 2016. Pharmaceutical inventory management (from selection, planning, to control) has been carried out effectively. A drug distribution system has been implemented using a combination of methods, such as Unit Dose Dispensing (UDD) for inpatients and individual prescriptions for outpatients. Clinical pharmacy services have been implemented in accordance with Minimum Service Standards (SPM), such as waiting times of ≤ 30 minutes for finished drugs and ≤ 60 minutes for compounded drugs, and 100% prescription writing according to the formulary.
Conclusion: The Pharmacy Unit of the Special Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Haji General Hospital in Medan has organized all pharmaceutical service activities, both managerial and clinical, in a structured and professional manner in accordance with the Hospital Pharmaceutical Service Standards (PMK No. 72 of 2016). This PKPA has successfully provided prospective pharmacists with direct practical experience in carrying out their roles and functions in the hospital environment. | en_US |
