| dc.description.abstract | One of the biggest health challenges globally in the 21st century is non-communicable diseases (NCDs), affecting both developing and developed countries. To combat this, the Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS) national program was initiated in Indonesia, with physical activity as its core first step. In line with this, the Medan City government implemented the Car Free Day program, providing weekly opportunities for the public to engage in physical activity. This quantitative, cross-sectional study aimed to examine the factors associated with community physical activity behaviors during Car Free Day in Medan City. Using purposive sampling, 96 respondents were interviewed with questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test. The results indicated a significant relationship between age and physical activity behavior (p-value = 0.020), as well as a significant relationship between gender and physical activity behavior (p-value = 0.020). Conversely, there was no significant relationship found with distance from home (p-value = 0.143). Knowledge showed a significant relationship with physical activity behavior (p-value = 0.026), but attitude (p-value = 0.470), infrastructure (p-value = 0.312), and peer support (p-value = 0.371) did not show significant relationships. Therefore, this study suggests that the community should enhance their knowledge, develop a positive attitude, utilize available infrastructure, and foster supportive peer relationships to increase their physical activity levels.
