| dc.description.abstract | The engagement of simultaneous interpreting in United Nation International
Conference places the interpreter become more significant. It is proved that 95%
simultaneous interpreting become efficient enough in international conference. This
research focuses on the strategy in facing of the technical and non-technical problems
in simultaneous interpreting. This interpreting mostly uses in international conference
especially in United Nation. Even though many difficulties which are faced by
interpreters either technical or non-technical, but it places in the highest and become
prestige. This simultaneous interpreting need high concentration, think fast, able to
get the information fast, and able to speak multi languages. This research is
qualitative using the content of analysis and supported by Jones R. (1998), and using
the phenomenology paradigm by John W. Creswell (2007). The purpose of this research
is to know the strategy of interpreter faces the technical and non-technical problems
at simultaneous interpreting in united nation conference, finding the difficulties which
are faced of the interpreter base on the experience, challenge, and suggestion either
technical or non-technical problems, and finding the cause factors of interpreter’s
difficulties in simultaneous interpreting. The main data source is the experience which
is from the six interpreters namely Inggris, Perancis, Spanyol, Rusia, Arab Saudi, and
China. While the data is the sentence (oral). The method of research which use in
taking the data is watching, record, and note-taking. This source data is not taken by
interview or directly interaction from the six-interpreters, but it bases on the
experience, challenge, and suggestion which are conveyed directly by the running
texts using English. Bases on data analysis is to be found that there are several
technical and non-technical factors. Technical factors are speed, interpretation,
technical terms are found on three interpreters namely Spanyol (Maria Carolina
Lopez Uribe), Perancis (Sergio Escamilla), and Arab Saudi (Soumiya Lahlao). While
in non-technical factors are afraid, anxious, stress, nervous, flustered, and lack of
confidence are found in all interpreters namely Inggris (Paul Pottingen), Rusia (Olga
Znamenshchikova), and China (Xunyu Emielic Hung). In this case, the technical
difficulty can bring the effect of non-technical and the successful of technical is also
depends on the situation of non-technical. Therefore, to solve these difficulties that
there is necessary the strategy of interpreter quality improvement in understanding
about linguistics, cross culture communication, and rise up the quality of interpreter’s
experience in simultaneous interpreting practice in order to make it easy for
practitioners in simultaneous interpreting practice. | en_US |
