| dc.description.abstract | Medan batik is a batik with motifs that naturally originate from Medan, such
as Batak and Malay traditions. Currently, Medan batik industry players lack
copyright protection, including Az-Zahra batik. Az-Zahra batik entrepreneurs lack
knowledge of how to process copyright, which is detrimental because without
copyright, they cannot protect their work and cannot provide financial protection.
Therefore, it is crucial for Medan batik craft industry players to obtain copyright.
The purpose of this study is to understand the development of craft industry players
based on local wisdom, to identify the obstacles faced by craft industry players
based on local wisdom in obtaining copyright, and to understand copyright
protection for craft industry players based on local wisdom.
The research method used is empirical and descriptive juridical research.
Data sources include primary and secondary data (primary legal materials,
secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials). The collection techniques
used are library research and field research.
The research results show that the development of craft industries based on
local wisdom, including the batik craft industry Az-Zahra from Medan, must be able
to adapt to changing times and intense current competition. This evolution of time
requires craft industry players to transform, for example, by utilizing technology.
The development of craft industries based on local wisdom is currently marked by
efforts to adapt to modernity, a shift in business paradigms, and an increased
awareness of the strategic value of cultural heritage. Nevertheless, efforts to protect
the copyrights of these industry players are still far from optimal and face
significant obstacles, primarily due to a lack of information, a neglectful attitude
from some players, and minimal government suppor | en_US |
