| dc.description.abstract | Spun Pile foundations are the primary solution for the construction of multi story buildings in areas with unfavorable soil conditions, such as in the city of Medan. This study analyzes the axial bearing capacity and settlement of 60 cm diameter Spun Pile foundations in the Tower-1 Inpatient Building Project at Haji Medan Hospital by comparing three approaches: an empirical method based on SPT data, static load testing, and numerical simulation using PLAXIS 3D with Mohr-Coulomb and Hardening Soil soil models. The analysis results show that the empirical method yields an ultimate bearing capacity of 321,9 tons, while the interpretation of field load tests (Davisson, Mazurkiewicz, and Chin) provides values of 410 tons, 430 tons, and 476 tons, respectively. The PLAXIS 3D simulation showed conservative results with a deviation of less than 6% compared to field data, where the Hardening Soil model (8.053 mm settlement) was more accurate than the Mohr-Coulomb model (10.19 mm) in predicting the actual settlement of 6.66 mm. Additionally, pile group efficiency analysis yielded values of 75 83.34%, indicating the influence of pile-to-pile interaction on bearing capacity. This study concludes that PLAXIS 3D modeling with the Hardening Soil model can provide more realistic predictions for Spun Pile foundation design and serve as a reference for similar projects in regions with similar soil characteristics. | en_US |
