This study aims to evaluate the implementation of talent management at PT Pertamina
Gas Niaga Medan North Sumatra, especially in an effort to increase employee
productivity. Based on the results of the research, the talent management process that has
been implemented has been implemented by the human resource management
department through the recruitment and selection stages as well as the performance
management process. Employees are grouped into talent pools based on leadership
competencies, basic competencies, and technical competencies possessed by each
individual. The main factor in talent management that causes a decrease in employee
productivity lies in the formation of competencies needed by new employees in the
regeneration process. Several actions have been taken by the management, but they still
need improvement, especially in terms of recruitment and selection, performance
management, the onboarding process, and education and training. The follow-up plan
prepared to overcome these problems includes: (1) Organizational preparation in the
implementation of talent management through the appointment of coaches, assessments,
and direct supervisors and the establishment of mechanisms. (2) Development of a talent
management system that can be accessed by every employee so that the assessment
process, strengths, and weaknesses can be evaluated and encourage the formation of selfassessment.
(3) The implementation of a participatory training system based on
individual needs, which is also expected to create training cost efficiency. The results of
this research are expected to be input for companies in improving the implementation of
talent management to increase productivity and organizational performance in a
sustainable manner.
