This research analyzes lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) contamination in well water surrounding the TPA Terjun garbage dump from February to September 2023. The objective of the research is to determine the spatial distribution of metal Pb and Cd in the well water of the loval population near TPA Terjun. The samples of people’s well water are taken using purposive sampling technique; they consist of 22 locations within a range of 50 to 500 meters from the TPA Terjun active zone, Medan, whereas leachate is taken from the leachate outlet, and the sample of observed well water is directly taken from absorbing wells at the TPA Terjun. The result of analyzing the 22 samples of the local people’s wells shows that the content of Pb is around 0.0039 – 0.0379 mg/l in dug wells and <0.0001 – 0.0158 mg/l in drilled wells. Spatially, the spread of Pb in dug wells in centered in SG1 and SG4 which come from the TPA Terjun and in its outside activity. Meanwhile, the spread of the Pb of drilled wells begins from SB10 point, and it moves to the southeast where the activity outside of the TPA Terjun comes from. The content of Cd is around 0.0008 – 0.0032 mg/l in dug wells and 0.0005 – 0.0102 mg/l in drilled wells. Spatially, the spread of Cd in dug wells comes from the TPA Terjun of SG1 point, but in drilled wells from SB5 point, it is affected by the activity outside of the TPA Terjun. The results of the t-test shows that there is a significant difference of Pb content of dug wells from that of drilled wells. However, there is no significant difference in Cd content. The result of the regression test shows that Pb content in dug wells is affected by the distance from TPA Terjun active zone, but distance does not affect Cd content of drilled wells and dug wells. Therefore, the shift from the type of dug wells to drilled wells should be done in order to reduce the burden of metal pollution which contaminates people.en_US
