    Abstract
Shallot is a horticultural crop that is rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Low red onion production is not proportional to the increase in consumption due to suboptimal farming systems, poor and suboptimal land conditions, and the use of seeds of declining quality. The use of organic fertilizers can be one way to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers while improving agricultural environmental conditions. This study aims to determine the effect of chicken manure and liquid banana stem organic fertilizer on the growth and production of shallots. This study was conducted in a greenhouse in Medan Johor District, North Sumatra, at an altitude of 35 meters above sea level with coordinates 3°31'17.3'‘ BT and 98°39'43.4’' LS, from April to June 2025. This study used a randomized block design consisting of 2 treatments with 3 replicates. The first factor was the application of chicken manure (15 tons/ha; 20 tons/ha; 25 tons/ha; 30 tons/ha). The second factor was the application of liquid organic fertilizer from banana stems (50 ml/L; 100 ml/L; 150 ml/L). The results showed that the application of chicken manure at a dose of 25 tons/ha had a significant effect on plant height and number of leaves. The application of liquid organic fertilizer at a concentration of 150 ml/L had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, tuber diameter, and number of tubers per sample. The interaction between the application of chicken manure and liquid organic fertilizer from banana stems had a significant effect on the number of leaves per plant.
