Motor vehicle emission testing is regulated under Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2021, which requires road-based vehicles that have been in use for more than three years to undergo emission testing and comply with emission quality standards. According to data from the Motor Vehicle Testing Unit (UPT PKB) Amplas in 2024, of the 44,101 vehicles tested, only 2,873 passed the initial inspection, while 41,156 vehicles were required to undergo retesting. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and practices of motor vehicle users at Amplas Terminal, Medan, regarding motor vehicle emission testing. This research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive survey method. Sampling was conducted using the accidental sampling method by selecting respondents who were truck, bus, passenger car, and motorcycle drivers present at the Amplas Terminal. The results of the study indicate that socialization regarding emission testing has not been optimally implemented by UPT PKB Amplas. Nevertheless, some vehicle users were aware of emission testing, particularly drivers whose vehicles require a roadworthiness card. A total of 56% of respondents reported having received information, with the main source coming from friends or relatives (18%). The majority of respondents demonstrated good knowledge (49%) and good attitudes (94%), although only 35% showed good practices. In conclusion, respondents possessed good knowledge and attitudes regarding emission testing; however, a gap was identified between their positive attitudes and actual practices. It is recommended that the Medan City Government enforce regulations on vehicle emission testing, while the Department of Transportation and relevant Technical Implementation Units are expected to enhance public outreach through various media.en_US
