Rice is the most widely consumed food crop by the Indonesian people. As many as 95% of the Indonesian population uses rice as a staple food. Rice is a plant that can grow well in flooded conditions. Flooded conditions that exceed normal limits can damage the physiology of rice, especially production. One way to overcome flooding stress in upland rice plants is by using plant growth regulators, namely putrescine. Putrescine (polyamine) plays a role as a plant defense from biotic and abiotic stresses and increases plant growth and development. In addition to the use of ZPT, the use of superior varieties can have high yield potential, be resistant to pests, have an early maturity and be developed in certain planting patterns. The study aims to determine the growth and production response of several upland rice varieties Oryza sativa L to the level of flooding with the administration of putrescine. The study was conducted in July-November 2023 in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 3 faktors. Namely the first faktor of inpago 8 (V1), inpago 9 (V2), and situbagendit (V3) varieties. The second faktor is without inundation (T0) and flooding (T1). The third faktor is without giving putrescine (P0), 100 ppm (P1) and 200 ppm (P2). Based on this research, the situbagendit variety is a variety that can be used in unpredictable weather conditions (in flooded conditions) with the addition of a Putrescine concentration of 200 ppm which can increase the growth and production of upland rice plants.
