Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are forest resources with great potential for
development, one of which is honey, a commodity of high economic value. Parbaba
Dolok Village, Pangururan Sub-district, Samosir Regency, possesses diverse
vegetation that serves as potential forage for honey bees. This study aims to identify
plant species that produce nectar and pollen and to establish a flowering calendar
as the basis for forage availability in the study area. The methods employed
included field observations within a 900-meter radius from the observation points
and a literature review. Data collected consisted of primary data through direct
identification, interviews, and documentation, as well as secondary data from
relevant literature. The results revealed 34 plant species with potential as honey
bee forage, comprising 5 forest tree species, 24 agricultural crops, 3 wild plant
species, 1 ornamental plant species, and 1 plantation crop. Based on flowering
patterns, 17 species bloom throughout the year, 15 species bloom seasonally, and
2 species bloom irregularly. The diversity and availability of these forage plants
indicate that Parbaba Dolok Village has strong potential to support the sustainable
development of honey bee cultivation.
