This study aimed to identify the morphological characteristics of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) variety vima 1 in the M2 generation induced by colchicine mutation and to compare them with M1 generation. Artifical mutation through colchicine treatment is expected to broaden genetic variability, thereby morphological traits. The experiment was arranged in a randomized blok design (RAK), and data were analyzed using an unpaired two-tail t-test. Morphological parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, flowering age, number of pods, seed weight, pod lenght, 100 seed weight and number of seeds. The result showed that colchicine induced mutation in the M2 generation caused significant differences compared to the M1 generation in leaf number at 5 mst and flowering age. In contrast, other parameters sucs as plant height, pod lenght, and 100 seed weight showed no significant differences in most treartments. Out of 9 treatments, 2 to 8 treatments exhibited non-significant variaton depending on the observed trait. These findings indicate that colchicine mutation can induce morphological variability in mung bean, although itf effects are trait specific.
