| dc.description.abstract | The novel Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting (Diary of a Crazy Daughter-in-Law) by Rosi L. Simamora and the film Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting directed by Sunil Soraya are based on the true story of a woman who recounts how her daily life is disrupted by her mother-in-law, leading to a form of deviance. The film Diary of a Crazy Daughter-in-Law is adapted from the novel Diary of a Crazy Daughter-in-Law, which is referred to as an ekranisasi. Of course, there are differences in the presentation of the forms of deviance contained in the novel and the film Diary of a Crazy Daughter-in-Law. This study aims to describe the forms of social deviance contained in the novel and film Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting, describe the screen adaptation of the novel Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting, and describe the differences in the presentation of the forms of deviance contained therein. The method used in this study is qualitative. The theories used are adaptation and literary sociology. The data collection technique in this study is literature study and the data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. From the results of the study, seven forms of deviance were found in the novel and six forms of deviance in the film, including imposing one's own will, violating privacy, meddling in other people's affairs, lying, using foul language, promiscuity, and playboy behavior. In addition, in the screen adaptation process, there were thirteen instances of cutting/abridging, twenty instances of adding, and six instances of varying changes. After going through the screen adaptation process, there were three forms of deviation that had differences in their presentation, including meddling in other people's affairs, promiscuity, and foul language. | en_US |
