    Abstract
    Indigosol Pink IR batik dye is a synthetic dye used in the batik-making process that can often pollute the environment if not treated beforehand. Therefore, biochar was produced to remove the modified Indigosol Pink IR batik dye with FeCl3 by mixing biochar from sugarcane bagasse with FeCl3 at varying concentrations of 0,1%, 0,2%, 0,3%, 0,4%, and 0,5%. The characterization of magnetite (FeCl₃) biochar was performed using FT-IR and SEM instruments. The analysis results showed that FeCl₃ biochar was successfully formed and contained Fe-O functional groups in its pores. The determination of optimal adsorption process conditions was conducted using three parameters: contact time (20, 40, 60, and 80 minutes), FeCl₃ concentration in the biochar (0,1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, and 0.5%), and initial dye solution concentration (20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 ppm). Each treatment was performed in triplicate, and a paired t-test for means with a standard deviation <2% was conducted, resulting in an optimal adsorption time of 40 minutes with an FeCl₃ concentration of 0,4% and achieving a removal rate of 95,50%. The adsorption method used resulted in a maximum adsorption capacity of 237,88 mg/g of Indigosol Pink IR dye.
