Student engagement is defined as a student’s active involvement in the learning process, encompassing emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and agentic aspects. This study aims to examine the differences in student engagement based on types of mindset among undergraduate students at the University of North Sumatra. A total of 400 respondents were selected using proportional quota and convenience sampling techniques, resulting in varying numbers of participants from each faculty according to their respective proportions. The study employed a comparative method using the Student Engagement Scale developed by Pratama & Guspa (2022), based on the framework of Reeve & Tseng (2011), and a Mindset Scale adapted by Munika et al. (2022) based on Dweck’s (2008) theory. Data were analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA method. The analysis results indicate significant differences in student engagement based on types of mindset among students at the University of North Sumatra, with a significance value of p < 0.001 (p < 0.05).en_US
