This study aims to examine the effect of gratitude on stress levels among individuals with diabetes mellitus in Medan City. People with diabetes mellitus are prone to experiencing stress due to the demands of managing a long-term chronic illness, such as dietary restrictions, regular medical check-ups, and the risk of complications. One psychological factor that plays a role in reducing stress is gratitude, which helps individuals accept themselves and view their condition more positively. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal-associative design. The participants consisted of 100 individuals with diabetes mellitus selected through accidental sampling. The instruments used were the Gratitude Quotient Test (to measure gratitude) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) to measure stress levels. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results showed a negative effect of gratitude on stress levels (b = -0.492, p = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.304, indicating that gratitude contributes 30,4% to stress levels. The higher the level of gratitude, the lower the level of stress experienced by individuals with diabetes mellitus.en_US
