Pengaruh Aplikasi Vitamin B1 terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Produksi Beberapa Varietas Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.)
The Effect of Vitamin B1 Application on the Growth and Yield of Several Sweet Corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.)
Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is a strategic food commodity that
plays an important role in food security and has high economic value. Demand for
sweet corn is increasing by around 5.7% per year in line with population growth
and awareness of its nutritional benefits. The advantages of sweet corn are its short
planting cycle and higher selling price compared to regular corn. This study aims
to evaluate the effect of vitamin B1 supplementation on the growth and yield of
several sweet corn varieties (Bonanza F1, Magenta, and Talenta). The study was
conducted on the land of the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatera Utara
Medan, using a Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors: variety and
vitamin B1 treatment (none, 1% soaking for 6 hours, and 1% spraying 4 times). The
results showed that vitamin B1 supplementation had a significant effect on cob
length. Variety affected plant height as well as cob length and weight without husks.
The interaction between vitamin B1 and variety also had a significant effect on plant
height at 2 MST.
