    Abstract
ABSTRACT Introduction. The third trimester of pregnancy is a period marked by significant physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that may affect maternal mental health. Physical activity plays an important role in maintaining psychological balance and preventing conditions such as stress and depression during pregnancy. Objective. This study aimed to analyze the effect of physical activity on the mental health of third-trimester pregnant women. Method. This research employed an analytic cross-sectional design involving 97 third-trimester pregnant women visiting Dr. El’s Practice in Tanjung Rejo Village, Medan Sunggal District. Physical activity was assessed using the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ), while mental health was evaluated using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). Data were analyzed using the Chi- Square test and Cramer’s V. Results and Discussion. Most respondents had moderate physical activity levels (71.1%) and showed no signs of depression (58.8%). A significant relationship was found between physical activity and mental health (p = 0.025; p < 0.05) with a Cramer’s V value of 0.276, indicating a weak-to- moderate association. These findings are consistent with who reported a significant correlation between pregnancy exercise and lower anxiety levels (p = 0.039). Conclusion. There is a significant effect of physical activity on the mental health of third-trimester pregnant women. Moderate physical activity contributes to emotional stability and helps prevent depression during pregnancy
