Background: Contraception is a method to prevent pregnancy and currently integral component of the Indonesian government’s family planning program. The Indonesian Association for Permanent Contraception routinely performs permanent contraception procedures in several regions across Indonesia using laparoscopic techniques with the Yoon Ring. Several studies have shown hormonal changes before and after tubal occlusion with the Yoon Ring, including menstrual disturbances. This study aims to compare progesterone levels and menstrual cycles before and after laparoscopic tubal occlusion using the Yoon Ring method, as well as to observe any complications during the study period. Methods: This study is a prospective analytical observational study with a cohort design. A total of 31 women undergoing tubal sterilization with the Yoon Ring at RSUD Pandan, North Sumatra, were included. Progesterone levels and menstrual cycle parameters were assessed before and six months after the procedure. Hormonal evaluation was conducted through laboratory testing, and statistical analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon, McNemar, and Marginal Homogeneity test. Results: A significant difference in progesterone levels was observed before and after the tubal occlusion procedure (p<0.001). However, there were no significant differences in menstrual cycle parameters, including menstrual regularity (p=0.500), duration of menstruation (p=0.564), cycle length (p=0.500), or dysmenorrhea (p=0.157). No complications were reported during the six month follow up after the Yoon Ring tubal occlusion. Conclusion: Laparoscopic tubal occlusion using the Yoon Ring method results in a significant change in progesterone levels but does not affect the menstrual cycle or cause post procedural complications. These findings support the safety of this method as a permanent contraceptive option.en_US
