Black galingale is a rhizome that can be used as a traditional medicinal
ingredient and has begun to be cultivated in Indonesia. A major constraint in its
cultivation is the provision of rhizomes as planting material. Propagation through
shoot micropropagation can accelerate the supply of planting material. This study
aimed to determine the effect of BAP and NAA supplementation as well as their
interactions on the shoot micropropagation of black kencur. The research was
conducted at the Alifa Agricultural Research Center (ALIFA-ARC) from March to
June 2025. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two treatment factors
was used. The first factor was BAP concentration consisting of 0 ppm, 2 ppm, 4
ppm, and 6 ppm. The second factor was NAA concentration consisting of 0 ppm, 1
ppm, and 2 ppm. Observed parameters included the time of shoot emergence,
number of shoots, shoot length, number of roots, and number of leaves. The best
treatment combinations were obtained at 6 ppm BAP + 1 ppm NAA for average
shoot emergence time, 6 ppm BAP + 0 ppm NAA for average number of shoots
and leaves, 2 ppm BAP + 1 ppm NAA for average shoot length, and 4 ppm BAP +
0 ppm NAA for average number of roots.
