A good work environment is one of the key factors in achieving employee job satisfaction. This study aims to describe the work environment and the level of job satisfaction among employees, as well as to analyze the role of the work environment in influencing employee satisfaction in the Program Unit of the Department of Transportation of North Sumatra Province. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 respondents. The independent variables in this study include: physical work environment, non-physical work environment, occupational safety and comfort, and organizational culture and internal communication. The dependent variable is employee job satisfaction. The results showed that most respondents agreed with all aspects of the work environment being studied. Moreover, the level of job satisfaction was very high, with 96.7% of respondents stating that they were satisfied working in the unit. The study concludes that a supportive physical, social, and psychological work environment plays a crucial role in enhancing employee job satisfaction. Therefore, continuous efforts are needed to maintain and improve the quality of the work environment to support employee performance and organizational loyalty.
