    Abstract
Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a significant malignancy globally and nationally. Its hidden anatomical location often leads to late-stage diagnosis. The profile of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients at Adam Malik Hospital in the recent period has not been well documented. Aim: To determine the profile of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients based on medical records at Adam Malik Hospital from 2022–2024. Method: This was a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 194 medical records of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients meeting the inclusion criteria were selected using total sampling. Data were analyzed univariately to describe the variables of age, gender, comorbidities, clinical symptoms, histopathological results, and clinical stage. Results: A total of 194 patients met the criteria. The 45–59 years age group was the most prevalent (47.9%). Patients were predominantly male (69.1%). The most common comorbidity was ear infection (67%). The most frequent clinical symptom was a neck mass (95.4%). The majority histopathological subtype was non-keratinizing undifferentiated carcinoma (94.3%). Most patients (55.7%) were diagnosed at stage IVA. Conclusion: The profile of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients at Adam Malik Hospital from 2022–2024 is dominated by productive-age males (45–59 years) with the main symptom of a neck mass and a non-keratinizing undifferentiated histopathological type. The majority of patients were diagnosed at an advanced stage IVA, indicating the need to enhance the effectiveness of early detection and public awareness.
