| dc.description.abstract | Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae are known for their ability to degrade waste, especially organic waste. Additionally, BSF larvae are high in protein and fat, making them a potential alternative feed source. However, the presence of indigestible chitin can be an antinutrient for monogastric animals. The amount of chitin varies depending on the larval developmental stage and the type of feed substrate. This study uses an experimental method with four substrate variations: protein (P), fiber (F), carbohydrates (C), and a mixture (M). Qualitative analysis was performed using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) to confirm the presence of chitin functional groups, while quantitative analysis was conducted by gravimetrically calculating the percentage yield. The observed variables include chitin yield percentage, larval length, and weight. Maintenance lasted for 21 days, with seven-day-old larvae serving as the control. The research results show that larvae with M substrate produced the highest chitin yield of 18.136%. The highest larval length was in M (17.298 ± 3.341 mm), and the highest weight was in P (0.34 ± 0.017 grams) per 10 larvae. Biological tests using catfish showed that the group of fish fed only commercial pellets had greater length and weight gain compared to the fish fed a combination of commercial pellets and BSF larvae. | en_US |
