    Abstract
    Traditional markets serve as primary sources of food that must meet sanitation standards to ensure consumer safety and public health. This study aims to analyze the implementation of healthy market indicators among wet stall traders at Pusat Pasar Medan City, identify trader characteristics and behaviors, and determine challenges in applying the indicators in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2020 concerning Environmental Health Standards for Traditional Markets. This research employed a descriptive quantitative design using observational and survey approaches. The sample consisted of 33 traders selected through total sampling. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that several healthy market indicators were fulfilled, including the availability of clean water, adequate lighting, temperature, humidity, and toilet facilities. However, aspects such as waste separation, vector control, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) were still less optimal. The highest indicator fulfillment was found among meat traders (78 percent), followed by poultry traders (71 percent) and fish traders (59.3 percent). Overall, the average level of indicator fulfillment was 69.4 percent, indicating that the market has not yet reached the Basic Healthy Market category (≥70 percent). From the behavioral aspect, some traders were still found to dispose of waste improperly, neglect the cleanliness of drainage systems, and not use PPE while working. In conclusion, the implementation of healthy market indicators at Pusat Pasar Medan City is considered fairly good but remains uneven across different commodity sectors. Continuous supervision, improved sanitation facilities, and ongoing education on clean and healthy living behavior are necessary for traders. These efforts are essential to create a market environment that is safe, comfortable, and hygienic, thereby supporting public health and sustainable market management.
