Analisis Perbandingan Kinerja Mesin CNC 5-Axis Berbasis Kontroler Mach-3 dan Mesin CNC EMCO TU-3 Axis dalam Pemesinan Geometri 3D
Comparative Analysis of the Performance of a 5-Axis CNC Machine Based on Mach-3 Controller and an Emco Tu-3 Axis CNC Machine in 3D Machining
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the performance of a 5-axis CNC machine based on a
Mach 3 controller as a result of modification of the EMCO TU 3-axis CNC
machine. This modification was carried out to increase flexibility, efficiency, and
ease in the process of creating G-code which was previously done manually.
Testing was carried out by comparing the performance between 5-axis and 3-axis
CNC machines based on the parameters of the number of setups, machining time,
dimensional accuracy level, and the number of machining failures. The results
showed that the 5-axis CNC machine only requires one setup for each design, but
has a longer machining time and a higher dimensional failure rate than the 3-axis
CNC machine. Conversely, the 3-axis CNC machine requires more setups, but
produces higher dimensional accuracy with fewer errors. The factors causing
failure mainly come from errors in determining the center point coordinates,
limitations in the cutting tool range, and G-code typing errors. Overall, the 5 Axis
CNC machine with Mach 3 controller is able to provide flexibility and ease in the
machining process, but still requires improvement in terms of the accuracy of
parameter and coordinate settings in order to achieve optimal accuracy in the
manufacturing process.
