Hubungan Faktor Risiko Perdarahan Post Partum dengan Kejadian Perdarahan Post Partum di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Haji Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2020-2023
The Relationship Between Postpartum Hemorrhage Risk factors and the Incidence of Postpartum Hemorrhage at Haji Adam Malik Hospital in Medan
Abstract
Introduction. Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal mortality
in Indonesia. Identifying associated risk factors is crucial for effective prevention. This
study aims to examine the relationship between risk factors and PPH incidence at H.
Adam Malik General Hospital from 2020 to 2023. Methods. This was an analytical
observational study using a cross-sectional design. A total sampling of 70 patients (35
PPH and 35 non-PPH) was obtained from medical records. Data were analyzed using
chi-square tests with SPSS. Results. Most PPH patients were aged 20–35 years
(64.3%), had a senior high school education (44.3%), and were housewives (48.6%).
Only occupation showed a statistically significant association with PPH incidence
(p=0.019). Other variables such as age, education, residence, uterine atony, retained
placenta, perineal laceration, coagulopathy, delivery history, PPH history, and fetal
birth weight were not statistically significant. Conclusion. Among all studied factors,
only occupation was significantly associated with PPH incidence. Educational and
preventive efforts should focus on housewives to minimize PPH risk.
