This study aims to determine the performance improvement of generator set engines
by adding HHO gas as a fuel mixture. In generator set engine performance, there
are several important parameters in data collection, such as effective power,
specific fuel consumption, generator system efficiency, torque, and thermal
efficiency. This study also measures the content of exhaust gas emissions such as
Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Oxygen (O2), Hydrocarbons
(HC). The results of the study showed that the highest Effective Power was obtained
by adding HHO gas at a load of 600 watts, which was 1.567 kW (Up 1.71%),
Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) of adding HHO gas experienced the lowest
decrease in fuel consumption of 0.2212 kg/kWh (Down 20.15%). The highest Genset
Efficiency was at a load of 600 with the addition of HHO gas of 37.4% (Up
17.76%). The highest torque was at a load of 600 with a load of 4.98 N.m (Up
1.71%) and the highest Thermal Efficiency was at a load of 600 with the addition
of HHO of 38.56% (Up 17.24%).
