| dc.description.abstract | Acrolein is the simplest unsaturated aldehyde. The use of acrolein products in the industrial world is very broad in the polymer manufacturing process or as a preservative for fats and oils. The pre-designed acrolein manufacturing plant has a production capacity of 4,500 tons/year and operates for 330 days a year. The main process in the pre-design of this factory consists of three stages, namely the raw material preparation stage, the reaction stage, and the product purification stage. At the reaction stage, a multitube fixed-bed reactor was used which operated at a temperature of 300 °C and a pressure of 1,7 atm with a catalyst H4SiW12O40. The glycerol needed to achieve an acrolein production capacity of 4.500 tons/year is 1.295.440 kg/hour. The factory for making acrolein from glycerol with the Glycerol Dehydration process is planned to be established in Sei Silau, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province with a total factory area of 14,078 m2. The water demand at the factory is supplied from the Sei Silau River as much as 32.041,204 kg/hour. The planned form of corporate organization is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure, as well as a total of 180 employees. The investment capital for the establishment and operation of the factory is IDR 2.096.238.940.798 and production costs are IDR 1.318.896.624.476. The results of the economic analysis of the pre-design of this factory have a Profit Margin (PM) of 27,485%; Break Even Point (BEP) of 40,670%; Return on Investment (ROI) of 26,326%; Return on Network (RON) of 43,876%; Pay Out Time (POT) for 3 years and 8 months and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 25,508%. | en_US |
