Kehidupan Sosial Ekonomi Pedagang Kaki Lima (Studi Kasus di Kelurahan Rantau Laban Kota Tebing Tinggi)

Abstract

Street vendors are one of the community groups that depend on the informal sector fot their economic livelihood. Limited capital and uncertain income make street vendors vulnerable to socioeconomic problems. This study aims to determine the socioeconomic life of streey vendors in Rantau Laban, Tebing Tinggi City. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results of the study show that the socioeconomic life of street vendors in Rantau Laban is in a relatively vulnerable condition. Their income is uncertain, so they are unable to optimally meet their daily needs. This income situation has an impact on education, where the children of vendors are unable to continue their education to higher level. In terms of health, economic limitatons make it difficult for vendors to access health services. In terms of housing, street vendors are unable to own their own homes.
