Soft Denture Liner (SDL) or soft lining materials are used to address issues in complete dentures with alveolar ridge resorption, as SDL has a cushioning effect that can absorb occlusal pressure or act as a shock absorber. However, a drawback of using SDL is that Candida albicans can easily form colonies and penetrate the material, which may lead to denture stomatitis and poor oral health. Therefore, disinfection is necessary, which can be achieved by incorporating natural antifungal agents into the SDL. One such plant is Origanum vulgare, known for its antifungal properties. This study aims to determine the effect of adding oregano gel on the elastic modulus of autopolymerizing silicone SDL. The samples used in this study were autopolymerizing silicone SDL formed using dumbbell-shaped molds measuring 50 mm x 10 mm x 10 mm. A total of 40 samples (n=40) were divided into 8 groups (n=5). The groups consisted of: untreated samples, samples soaked in 0.5% sodium hypochlorite, samples with added nystatin gel, and samples with 10% oregano gel, observed over 1 and 7 days. Elastic modulus was measured using the stress relaxation test method with a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Data were analyzed using univariate tests to determine the mean and standard deviation of the elastic modulus for each group, and one-way ANOVA to assess the effect of oregano gel addition based on usage duration. The highest mean and standard deviation of the elastic modulus after 1 day were found in the 0.5% sodium hypochlorite immersion group, with a value of 0.252 ± 0.005 MPa. The lowest value was found in the group with 10% oregano gel addition, with a value of 0.173 ± 0.013 MPa. The highest mean and standard deviation of the elastic modulus after 7 days were also found in the 0.5% sodium hypochlorite immersion group, with a value of 0.281 ± 0.007 MPa. The lowest value was observed in the group with 10% oregano gel addition, with a value of 0.213 ± 0.005 MPa. The results of the one-way ANOVA showed a significant effect of adding oregano gel to the autopolymerizing SDL, with p=0.001 (p<0.05) for both 1-day and 7-day usage durations. From this study, it can be concluded that 10% oregano gel-added autopolymerizing silicone SDL is able to maintain its elastic modulus even after 7 days of use. However, further evaluation of its effects on other mechanical and physical properties is necessary before clinical application.en_US
