This study aims to analyze the effect of growth opportunity, profitability,
institutional ownership, and net working capital on cash holdings in retail trade
sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–
2024 period. This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data
obtained from annual financial reports published on the official website of the
Indonesia Stock Exchange and each company's official website. The research
sample was determined using a purposive sampling method, resulting in 100
observations from 20 companies. Data analysis was conducted using panel data
regression with the assistance of EViews 12 software. The results indicate that
simultaneously all independent variables have a significant effect on cash
holdings. Partially, growth opportunity, profitability, and net working capital
have a significant positive effect on cash holdings, while institutional ownership
has no significant effect on cash holdings.
