dc.description.abstractPorphyromonas gingivalis is a bacteria that plays a role in biofilm formation. Biofilm causes infections to be more resistant to antibacterial agents. The limitations of the gold standard are a consideration for conducting research using more biocompatible material from natural resource such as Lerak fruit. Recent developments have moved towards nanoparticles such as Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs). Nanoparticles allow irrigation materials increase their effectiveness so they can be used at lower concentrations. This study aims to determine the antibacterial effect of CQDs Lerak extract on Porphyromonas gingivalis biofilm formation. This research was conducted in vitro on a 96-well plate using a crystal violet assay. There were four treatment groups. Group I was treated with 4% Lerak CQDs. Group II was treated with a combination of 4% Lerak CQDs and 1.5% NaOCl. Group III was treated with a combination of 1.5% NaOCl and 17% EDTA. Group IV was treated with Chlorhexidine. After incubation for 24 hours and 48 hours under anaerobic conditions, the biofilm formed on the well plate walls was measured using a microplate reader at a wavelength of 590 nm. The results of the One-Way Anova test showed a significant difference among all treatment groups at 24 hours of incubation (p<0.000) and no difference at 48 hours of incubation (p>0.05). The results show that the combination of 4% CQDs Lerak and 1.5% NaOCl is the most effective group in inhibiting Porphyromonas gingivalis biofilm formation.en_US
