Biofuel is a natural fuel obtained by cracking organic raw materials to break long
carbon chains into shorter ones with or without the aid of a catalyst. The main
objective of this plant design is to implement chemical engineering disciplines and
to provide preliminary information for the design of a biofuel production plant from
RBDPO through catalytic cracking with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year. The main
process in the preliminary design of this plant consists of three stages, namely the
raw material preparation stage, the product formation stage, and the product
purification stage. The RBDPO biofuel production plant is planned to be
established in Rokan Hilir, Riau, with a land area of 19,750 m2. It will require a
workforce of 120 people and will be organized as a limited liability company (PT)
led by a director with a line and staff organizational system. The establishment and
operation of the plant requires an capital investment of IDR 294,802,301,383 and
production costs of IDR 6,183,187,997,735. Based on the feasibility analysis, this
factory has a BEP of 42.738%, ROI of 24.68%, POT of 4 years, RON of 41.14%,
and IRR of 23.09%. Based on the economic analysis results, it can be concluded
that the preliminary design of a biofuel production plant from RBDPO through
catalytic cracking with ZSM-5 catalyst is feasible to be established.
