dc.description.abstractBackground: Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents a significant global health concern, associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. The Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and the Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII) have emerged as novel prognostic biomarkers in various malignancies; however, their association with the staging of CRC has yet to be clearly established. Method: This cross-sectional analytic study was conducted at Adam Malik Hospital between September and November 2024. A total of 51 newly diagnosed colorectal cancer (CRC) patients were enrolled. Inclusion criteria comprised histopathologically confirmed CRC cases with no prior treatment. Laboratory parameters were obtained to calculate the Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and the Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII). Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 29.0. The independent t-test, Mann–Whitney U test, and Spearman’s correlation test were employed to evaluate the association between SIRI, SII, and CRC staging. Result: The majority of patients were male (54.9%), with a mean age of 55.04 years. Stage II colorectal cancer was the most prevalent (41.2%), and the rectum was the most commonly affected site (47.1%). The median values for the Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and the Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII) were 2.71 and 1,643, respectively. No statistically significant correlation was observed between SIRI (p = 0.706) or SII (p = 0.950) and colorectal cancer staging. Conclusion: No significant association was found between SIRI and SII scores and the stage of colorectal cancer. Further research involving larger sample sizes is warranted to better elucidate their potential prognostic value.
