Wound healing following tooth extraction proceeds through four main phases, namely hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling. Osteoclasts play a crucial role during the remodelling phase, particularly in regulating bone resorption. Centella asiatica (L.) Urban, commonly known as gotu kola, is a natural material recognized for its wound healing properties, however, studies on its effects on postextraction wound healing remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Centella asiatica leaf extract on osteoclast activity during the healing of post-extraction wounds in Wistar rats. This experimental laboratory study was conducted using six treatment groups, which were observed on the 7th and 14th days. Osteoclast cell counts were analyzed using ANOVA followed by post-hoc tests. The results demonstrated significant differences in the mean osteoclast counts among the groups. Centella asiatica leaf extract administered orally at doses of 75 mg/kg BW and 375 mg/kg BW was proven effective in reducing osteoclast numbers during the healing process of post extraction wounds.en_US
