The Influence of Reward, Punishment, and Flexibility on the Performance of Gojek Driver Partners in Medan City
Abstract
In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the development of digital technology
has transformed employment systems and given rise to a new work model known
as the gig economy. One example of its implementation in Indonesia is Gojek,
which plays a significant role in providing flexible job opportunities for millions of
partner drivers across various cities, including Medan. However, amid the rapid
growth of this app-based service industry, new challenges have emerged in
maintaining driver performance. Therefore, it is important to examine the factors
that may influence the performance of partner drivers, particularly through the
application of reward, punishment, and work flexibility offered by the company.
This study aims to examine the effect of reward, punishment, and flexibility on the
performance of Gojek driver partners in Medan City. This research uses a
quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to
Gojek drivers in Medan City. The population of this study is all Gojek drivers in
Medan City. Using probability sampling based on Hair's formula, a total of 85
respondents were obtained. The analysis technique used is multiple linear
regression. The results show that partially, reward, punishment, and flexibility have
a positive and significant effect on performance. Simultaneously, reward,
punishment, and flexibility also have a significant effect on the performance of
driver partners, with a contribution of 92.5%.
