    Abstract
North Sumatra has a wealth and diversity of culture that has great potential to be developed as a cultural tourist attraction for tourists and as a means of education and interaction for the local community. However, to date there are no cultural facilities in the city of Medan that integrate cultural education, commercial activities, exhibitions and performances, and cultural preservation in one area. This situation has resulted in the cultural potential of North Sumatra not being optimally utilised. A biophilic architectural approach was applied to strengthen the relationship between humans and nature by integrating natural elements such as vegetation, natural lighting, natural ventilation, and open spaces into the building design. This approach is expected to create a comfortable, attractive, and characterful environment that will increase the appeal of the building for both tourists and the local community. The design process includes site analysis, space planning, zoning, building mass formation, circulation design, and the application of biophilic design principles adapted to the tropical climate of Medan. The designed Cultural Centre is expected to function as an inclusive public space, a centre for cultural activities, a cultural tourism destination, and a means of preserving and introducing the cultural heritage of North Sumatra, while also supporting the development of sustainable architecture in urban areas.
