Factors Related to the Utilization of Antenatal Care Services for Pregnant Women in Working Area of Rantauprapat Public Health Center in 2025
Abstract
Antenatal care is a pregnancy check-up service provided to pregnant women to ensure the health of the mother and fetus during pregnancy. Optimal utilization of ANC can prevent pregnancy complications and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. However, in the working area of the Rantauprapat Community Health Center, ANC utilization remains suboptimal and falls short of meeting the established minimum standards. In 2024, the number of pregnant women in the Working Area of Puskesmas Kota Rantauprapat was 1,676 people, but the average monthly visits of pregnant women who conducted K1 access were 140 people, pure K1 were 139 people, K4 were 137 people, and K6 were 135 people. The lack of The utilization of these services is influenced by several factors, such as knowledge, work, attitude, family income, accessibility, and complaints during pregnancy. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the utilization of antenatal care services by pregnant women in the working area of the Rantauprapat Community Health Center in 2025. This study is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was all pregnant women in the working area of the Rantauprapat Community Health Center. The sample size was 120 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test (ɑ < 0.05). The results of the study showed that most pregnant women (67.5%) did not optimally utilize antenatal care services. The chi-square test results show that there is a significant relationship between knowledge (p < 0.001), occupation (p = 0.001), family income (p = 0.028), accessibility (p = 0.005), and pregnancy complaints (p = 0.032) with the use of antenatal care services. Meanwhile, there was no significant relationship between attitude (p = 0.755) and the use of antenatal care. Support from health workers and community health centers is needed to increase the knowledge and motivation of pregnant women to undergo regular pregnancy checkups.
