Work fatigue is one of the occupational health problems that can affect the
performance, safety, and productivity of truck drivers. Factors such as age, mental
workload, driving duration, rest time, and sleep quantity and quality are suspected
to influence the level of work fatigue. This study aimed to determine the factors
associated with work fatigue among truck drivers at PT. Komol in Medan. This
research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design involving
38 truck drivers as respondents. Data were analyzed using the Spearman
correlation test. The results showed that 26 drivers (68.4%) experienced moderate
fatigue, followed by 6 drivers (15.8%) with mild and severe fatigue. Variables such
as age, mental workload, driving duration, rest time, and sleep quantity had no
significant relationship with work fatigue. However, sleep quality showed a
significant relationship with work fatigue (r = 0.528; p = 0.0001) and was
categorized as a moderate correlation. This indicates that the poorer the drivers,
sleep quality, the higher their level of work fatigue. It can be concluded that the
psychological factor, namely sleep quality, is the dominant variable associated with
work fatigue among truck drivers at PT. Komol Medan.
