In an increasingly competitive era of global competition, the quality of human resources has become a vital element in determining corporate success, including in the plantation and palm oil processing sector as operated by PT. Asam Jawa. Although the company has shown consistent improvement in employee performance over the years, challenges remain in sustaining optimal employee performance amid work pressures and organizational expectations. An interesting phenomenon at PT. Asam Jawa Medan Office is the gap between organizational support provided and employees' perceptions of such support. Despite the availability of various welfare facilities and programs supporting work-life balance-such as family gatherings and psychological counseling-some employees still perceive that incentives and workloads are disproportionate, and that organizational support is not fully equitable.
This condition affects the level of employee commitment and loyalty, as reflected in a preliminary survey showing that around 30% of employees are less motivated to make extra efforts in achieving the company's goals. This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of work-life balance and perceived organizational support on employee performance through organizational commitment. The research used a saturated sample of 43 employees at PT. Asam Jawa Medan Office. Data were collected using questionnaires, and the analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The findings indicate that work-life balance does not affect employee performance, whereas perceived organizational support and organizational commitment have both direct and indirect significant effects on employee performance at PT. Asam Jawa Medan Office.
