    Abstract
Fatty acids are organic compounds derived from both plant and animal sources and offer a wide range of benefits in industrial and health applications. Fatty acids are extensively utilized in various industries, including the manufacture of soaps, detergents, protective coatings, cosmetics, rubber products, textiles, and pharmaceuticals. In addition, fatty acids have high economic value and serve as fundamental raw materials for the oleochemical industry, such as soap, paint, candle, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. This pre-design study proposes a fatty acid production plant using rubber seeds as raw material with a production capacity of 6,500 tons per year, operating for 330 days annually. The production process consists of eight stages: rubber seed crushing, separation of rubber seed kernel and shell, rubber seed boiling, draining, pressing, centrifugation, degumming, and hydrolysis. The plant is planned to be located in Perdagangan I, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province, with a total land area of 14,000 m². The required workforce is 140 employees, and the business entity is structured as a Limited Liability Company (Perseroan Terbatas, PT) with a line-and-staff organizational structure. The economic evaluation indicates a total capital investment (CI) of Rp610,500,027,833, total production costs of Rp425,085,348,989, and sales profit of Rp253,120,978,716, resulting in a net profit of Rp197,434,363,399. The plant is projected to reach the break-even point (BEP) at 41.1% of production capacity, with a pay-out time (POT) of 3 years and 1 month. Based on the economic analysis, this pre-designed plant is considered feasible to be established.
