This research aims to identify and characterize the morphology of areca palm plants in Langkat Regency. This research was conducted using a descriptive survey method based on the IPGRI (International Plant Genetic Resources) coconut descriptor guideline, with a purposive sampling technique. The research results show that the areca palm trees found and identified in Bahorok, Sei Lepan, and Secanggang sub-districts, Langkat Regency, are known to be 21 plant genotypes. The morphological characteristics of the areca palm identified are generally compound leaf composition, pinnate compound leaf type, opposite decussate leaf arrangement, curved petiole shape, linear tapering leaf blade shape, tapering leaflet base, leaflet thickness of approximately 0.1 mm, with a daily sap yield of 15 to 25 liters. The closest kinship relationship is found between genotypes KK1 and KK3, at 1.758%. The most distant kinship relationship is found between genotypes SU1 and SU3, at 5.982%.en_US
