Ineffective family health management and knowledge deficits are two
common nursing diagnoses encountered in community nursing practice,
particularly in chronic illnesses such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This
professional final project aims to compare the implementation and evaluation
of family nursing interventions carried out in two families with members
suffering from RA. The interventions were conducted through three home
visits focusing on education about RA, utilization of healthcare facilities, and
complementary techniques such as foot soaking and cinnamon compresses
for pain management. Evaluation results showed that in the first family case
(Mr. J), the pain scale decreased from 4 to 2 within three days, while in the
second family (Mr. R), the pain scale decreased from 5 to 3 over the same
period. Both families demonstrated improved understanding and involvement
in care, although differences in readiness and initiative in responding to the
interventions were observed. These findings emphasize the importance of
educational, collaborative, and promotive skills in community nursing
practice to enhance the quality of life for patients with chronic illnesses in the
home setting.
