dc.description.abstractBackground: Myopia prevalence is increasing worldwide and is associated with ocular biometric changes including anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), and intraocular pressure (IOP). Short Term Exercise (STE) may reduce IOP; however, its effects on ACD and LT remain unclear, particularly among young Indonesian populations. Methods: A comparative analytic cross-sectional study was conducted at the University of Sumatera Utara Hospital involving myopic and emmetropic subjects. ACD, LT, and IOP were measured before and after 15 minutes of treadmill-based Short Term Exercise (STE). Statistical analyses were performed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests. Results: Baseline differences were observed between myopic and emmetropic groups, particularly in ACD and IOP. Short Term Exercise (STE) significantly reduced IOP in both groups, while ACD and LT showed no significant postexercise changes. Myopic subjects consistently demonstrated deeper ACD and thinner lenses than emmetropic subjects before and after exercise. Conclusion: Short Term Exercise (STE) effectively reduces IOP without inducing anatomical changes in ACD or LT. Although structural parameters differ between myopic and emmetropic eyes, exercise-induced changes primarily affect physiological, not structural, components.en_US
