This study aims to analyze the novel Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan using the literary
semiotic approach proposed by Charles Sanders Peirce. This research is a
qualitative study. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a semiotic
approach. The data source in this study is the novel Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan by
Andina Dwifatma. The data collection techniques used are reading, note-taking,
and conclusion techniques. The data analysis technique uses Charles Sanders
Peirce's semiotic theory through signs classified by Peirce into icons, indexes, and
symbols. The results of the study show that the literary semiotics in the novel
Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan by Andina Dwifatma, namely: 1) icons that contain 20
data, the data include: icons in the words football game, icons in the words photo,
icons in the words model Demi Moore, icons in images, and icons in sounds or
voices, 2) indexes that contain 10 data, for example the index in the quote I felt a
kick in my stomach is a form of index that describes a direct physical sign of the
presence of a fetus, 3) symbols that contain 25 data, the symbols include: symbols
of conventional relationships or cultural agreements, these symbols are in the
form of symbols of calls, body language, nature, symbols of a person's physique,
as well as symbols of certain regional cultures.
