Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Hidroksiapatit Cangkang Kerang Hijau dengan Polylactic Acid (PLA) Sebagai Material Bone Filler
Synthesis and Characterization of Green Mussel Shell Hydroxyapatite with Polylactic Acid (PLA) as Bone Filler Material
Abstract
Research has been conducted on hydroxyapatite from green mussel shells with polylactic acid (PLA) as a bone filler. Green mussel shells have high calcium and have the potential to be precursors in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite. Hydroxyapatite derived from green mussel shells is carried out with a calcination temperature of 1000oC with a precipitation method. The obtained hydroxyapatite was tested with PSA to determine the size of the particles and obtained a nano size of 57 nm. Variations in the composition of green mussel shells with polylactic acid use the compositions (45wt%:35wt%:20wt%), (50wt%:30wt%:20wt%), (55wt%:25wt%:20wt%), (60wt%:20wt%:20wt%). The results of the XRF characterization test show that the synthesized mussel shells contain 97.636% calcium, and 1.639% phosphorus and several other compounds with low percentages. Green mussel shell powder with the addition of PLA has been characterized including physical tests (density), mechanical tests (compressive strength and hardness), XRD tests and SEM-EDX tests. The density test results show that the value obtained is 2.2123 gr / cm3. The compressive strength value obtained is 12.3087 MPa and the hardness is 39.9 VHN. The results of the XRD sample analysis formed a hexagonal crystal phase. The SEM-EDX results show that the particles have an irregular structural morphology with a tendency to be needle-shaped.
