The Influence of Document Layout and Workspace on Employee Productivity in the Inspectorate Office of North Sumatera Province
Abstract
Employee productivity is an important factor in supporting organizational performance, especially in government institutions such as the Inspectorate Office of North Sumatra Province, which has a strategic role in internal supervision. Employee productivity is influenced not only by human resource competence but also by supporting work environment factors, such as document layout and workspace arrangement. This study aims to analyze the influence ofdocument layout and workspace on employee productivity at the Inspectorate Office of North Sumatra Province. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with employees. The results indicate that poorly organized document layouts, both physically and digitally, lead to longer document retrieval times and hinder work efficiency. In addition, workspace conditions that are not fully ergonomic affect employee comfort and work focus. Therefore, it can be concluded that document layout and workspace have a significant influence on employee productivity. Improvements in document management systems and more effective and ergonomicworkspace arrangements are recommended to enhance employee productivity and support optimal organizational performance.
