The Role of Lifestyle on the Morality of Students in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science, University of North Sumatra
Abstract
This study aims toanalyze the role of lifestyle in influencing the morality of
students at the Faculty ofSocial and Political Sciences, University of North
Sumatra. The method usedin this study is a descriptive qualitative approach with
data collection techniquesthrough observation, interviews, and documentation.
Informants consisted of lecturers, students, and campus organization
administrators. The results ofthe study show that lifestyle can influence student
morality,reinforced by Kottler's lifestyle indicators, namely interests,activities, and
opinions. The indicators of morality according to Emile Durkheim are a spirit
ofdiscipline, ties to social groups, and autonomy in determining one's own destiny.
This study concludes that students' lifestyles are shaped bytheir daily activities,
interests, and the way they express their opinions, whichare largely influenced by
technological developments, social media, andfriendship groups.
